TGIF Tunes!

Welcome! It’s Friday and you know what that means: it’s time for TGIF Tunes! And you know how the game is played: I ask myself a question and then I answer it by posting several of my favorite songs. If you click on a song title it will play for you. Remember, you are always welcome to play along in the comments section and leave some titles of *your* favorite songs!

Are ya ready? Here we go…

Name a song that makes you happy.

2. Al Green — Let’s Stay Together

3. Swingout Sister — Am I the Same Girl

4. 38 Special — So Caught Up In You

These songs all put a smile on my face and get me dancing. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do!

Unconscious Mutterings

Unconscious Mutterings is a simple game of free-association. Want to play, too? Go here for the details!

Here we go. The game master says… and I think… ?

  1. Podcast :: Listen
  2. Literally :: Actually
  3. Scratch :: Itch
  4. Voltage :: Shock
  5. Intense :: Passionate
  6. Chapped :: Lips
  7. Attention :: Focus
  8. Morning :: Glory
  9. Exhaustion :: Fatigue
  10. Mentor :: Guide

I often get images as a first response to the given words. The painting below sprang to mind with the answer “Morning :: Glory”.

Blue Morning Glories

Georgia O’Keefe

1938

Isn’t it gorgeous? It’s one of my favorite paintings by O’Keefe. The blue is so crisp and pure and plays wonderfully off the yellow center of the flower. Simply beautiful!

I hope your day is simply beautiful, too.

1. Led Zeppelin — Rock and Roll

2. Eric Clapton — Crossroads (Live)

3. Beyonce — Irreplaceable

4. Gin Blossoms — Found Out About You

All of these songs ROCK — turn it up and see for yourself!

Unconscious Mutterings

Unconscious Mutterings is a simple game of free-association. Want to play, too? Go here for the details!

Here we go. The game master says… and I think… ?

  1. Notification :: Alert
  2. Promise :: Oath
  3. Tailor :: Suit
  4. Laughter :: Joy
  5. Sneeze :: Sinus
  6. Forgotten :: Abandoned
  7. Job :: Work
  8. Shift :: Move
  9. Criticism :: Critique
  10. Holiday :: Vacation

Speaking of sneezing and sinuses, I think I caught some kind of crud while I was out and about last week. I can’t stop blowing my nose and I have an itchy throat. This is causing the cats to stare at me like I’m very uncouth and offending their delicate senses — and Jerry is avoiding getting close to me because he doesn’t want to catch the plague. No goodnight kiss for me tonight! *sigh*

I hope you all are staying healthy. More again soon, friends.

This week’s question is a little different. Here we go:

Name a song that reminds you of a person or time you’d rather forget about.

1. Bob Dylan — If You See Her Say Hello

2. Edison Lighthouse — Love Grows (Where My Rosemary Goes)

3. Melissa Etheridge — Come To My Window

4. Buddy Holly — True Love Ways

5. Brooks & Dunn — My Maria

Don’t get me wrong now. I *love* all of these songs. But someone or something at the time makes them bittersweet to me. I bet you have a few like these lurking around in the soundtrack to your life, too. Feel free to share! It’s rather therapeutic…
