Friday’s Feast and a little more.

Appetizer:
Name 3 things that you think are strange.
– Brocoflower. You know, that weird broccoli-cauliflower hybrid thing. I mean –WTF? Was that really necessary?

– People who get their butt cracks waxed.
– People who talk loudly on their cell phones in public about things that should be very private. Like getting their butt cracks waxed.
Soup:
What was the last ceremony you attended?
Commencement the year I graduated from Notre Dame. Hey, I had to go… Dubya was delivering the commencement speech!
Salad:
What is one lesson you have learned in the past year?
Sometimes it’s necessary to be completely selfish and there isn’t anything wrong with that.
Main Course:
Tell us about one of your childhood memories.
I have a favorite that always comes to my mind this time of year and it’s about color.
I was about 9 or 10, I think. It was Easter, and I was outside riding my bike, which happened to be a beautiful shade of blue. I looked up and noticed how clear and blue the sky was. I looked down at myself and I was wearing a blue sweater, the same color as the sky… wearing jeans in another shade of blue, and my new Keds, which matched my sweater. Then I sat on the seat of my bike and peeled a hard boiled Easter egg, which was the bluest blue of them all.
I know it’s an odd memory, but it was one of those moments of synchronicity that has stayed with me all of my life.
Dessert:
If you could extend any of the four seasons to be twice as long as normal, which season would you want to lengthen?
Autumn, with Spring coming in a very close second.
In other news, I am happy to report that my trip to see The Wisconsin PillMan was a great success. We had a good intake session, got to know each other a little bit, and discussed my meds. (We’re going to keep them at the current levels for another month, then decide if I need to bump the dosage again.)
The best thing is that his family of origin is from Dubuque, his wife’s family of origin is from the town in Wisconsin where he has his practice, and they have absolutely no plans of ever leaving the area.
It’s comforting to know that my serotonin and other brain chemicals are finally in the hands of a competent and permanent health care professional again.
More again soon, my friends…
Let’s catch up, shall we?

I’ll just start babbling about the first things that pop into my head, because even though my verbosity seems to be re-emerging a bit, it may still take a while before I am able to string coherent thoughts together. :dumb:
The taxes are done! Let us all rejoice, say hallelujah and amen, and slam that !@#$% filing cabinet shut until next year. I hate tax time, perhaps with more intensity than most people, and I don’t even touch the papers except to sign them at the end. What’s the deal then? Jer walks around in a stern, focused, receipt-finding mode for nearly a month before we file and it makes me so tense I want to puke.
To be perfectly frank, it really doesn’t have much to do with Jer. I’m actually having a flashback to my childhood years when my dad sat at the dining room table doing the taxes and everyone tip-toed on eggshells for days until it was over.
Anyway, we’re getting a decent refund, which is good. Because we need to get a new digital camera.
Because Randy grabbed the strap on our other one and pulled it onto the floor and broke it.
Which is why you haven’t seen any photos on the site lately.
Damn cat.

I talked with Mama Dory and Daddy Bill a couple times in the past week. They’re doing pretty good. Mom’s got a cataract and is going for a surgery in April to have it removed. She said that the only downside to having better vision afterward is that then she will see all of the dust around her house that she never noticed before.
I laughed and told her that if I started dusting my house now, I should be ready for them to visit some time this summer.
Also, Dad wanted to know if we are going to tear down the 6-ft fence we put between the backyards now that Marsha and the Thuglets have moved out.
That’s when I explained to him that Bumbling Bill runs around half-naked year round and has no qualms about baring his flabbity butt cheeks to any unfortunate soul who happens to glance in his direction.
Dad said “HAhahaha…yeahhhh, better keep the fence up…”
No shit. I don’t want Bumbling Bill or BlackCherry, the dingy-est dingbat to ever land on our block, to suddenly think we are open to friendly backyard conversation and grilling hot dogs with them.
Marsha and her brood may be gone, but I know that didn’t magically raise the combined IQ of that household one iota.
On Friday I go over the bridge and through the land of cheese into Wisconsin to meet my new (and hopefully permanent) PillMan. I’ve raised my dosage of the med I am taking to 50 mg. short of the normal limit. It’s only been since Saturday that I’ve started to feel back to my former level of “good mood” and functioning.
That makes it a depressive episode that has lasted nearly 3 months.
It’s the longest one I’ve ever experienced, and definitely one of the deepest.
I always fear that it’s going to reoccur – ambush me when I least expect it, and that I won’t be strong enough to handle it again.
Depression is like the Big Bad Wolf, circling the house. “Little Pig, Little Pig, let me in…”
Yeah. Fuck you, Mr.Wolf.
And finally, a meme…

Monday Music Mambo, #92
March 27, 2006 | 2 Comments
This just in from the Mememeister at home office in Mamboville…
Hello mamboers! Spring is finally here, but it doesn’t really feel like it yet. I’ll make this week’s mambo fairly simple. All you have to do is give me some songs, artists, or albums that remind you of or use the following words…
Birds:
Nelly Furtado – I’m Like a Bird
Flowers:
Cowsills – The Rain, The Park, And Other Things
Sun:
John Denver – Sunshine on My Shoulders
Stevie Wonder ~ You Are the Sunshine of My Life
Gerry and the Pacemakers – Don’t Let the Sun Catch You Crying
Rain:
Gordon Lightfoot – Rainy Day People
Party (in honor of spring break!):
Change:
Eric Clapton ~ If I Could Change the World
Swing Out Sister ~ Am I the Same Girl
Woo hoo! That was a fun Mambo; it has me feeling all Springy and stuff! Grab some tunes if you want ‘em — and have a GREAT Monday, my friends…
