Monday Music Mambo, #123

October 31, 2006 | Leave a Comment

This came in on time from the home office in Mamboville… however, I got busy packing for yet another roadtrip, so my answers are a day late! Let’s hit it, kids…

Hello! It’s time to mambo again. This week, I’m doing a mix of themes – The Internet’s Birthday from Sunday and Halloween.

1. What are your favorite music-related internet websites?

Songfacts

Soul Sides

Lyrics.com

Live365

Pandora

Album Cover Art Gallery

Pop Culture/Music Madness

2. Who are some of your favorite artists or bands you discovered on the internet?

My favorites discoveries so far: MoZella, The Gossip, Sparklehorse… and basically any decent artist who emerged later than 2000. Prior to that time I didn’t venture much outside of my little realm of classic rock oldies. The web has introduced me to a lot of new music.

Thank you so much for inventing the internet, Al Gore!

3. Name a few musicians who you think are scary, for any reason.

Hmmm. Well, I really like Neil Young… but if I met up with him in a dark alley his scowly face would scare me half to death. Same goes for Lyle Lovett. And Madonna. And Courtney Love. Kelly Osborne. Keith Richards (GOOD LORD!)… George Clinton, James Brown, Glen Campbell… wow… there’s lotsa scary looking people in the music industry. Hee.

And last but not least, the scariest of them all — Jacko! And we see him here choosing a nose to complete his Halloween costume.

4. Trick or treat! What song(s) or album(s) are you going to hand out to your bdinsanity trick or treaters this year?

Ohhhhh… You’re all so cute! Just reach in & take what you like!

10,000 Maniacs – Candy Everyone Wants

Tommy Bolin – Shake the Devil

Chris Isaak ~ Wicked Game

Classics IV – Spooky

Cranberries – Zombie

Creedence Clearwater Revival – I Put a Spell On You

Diana Krall ~ Autumn Leaves

Doors – Ghost Song

Lovin’ Spoonful – Do You Believe in Magic

Edgar Winter – Frankenstein

Electric Light Orchestra – Evil Woman

Neil Young ~ Harvest Moon

Smashing Pumpkins – 1979

Warren Zevon – Werewolves of London

*********

That’s it for this week’s spooky Halloween MambooOOOOOooo! I hope you enjoyed it — snag what looks good to you; they will be here until next time.

By the way, I hear there is an Evil Panty Bandit roaming the countryside, lookin’ to snatch up your undies and boxer shorts when you least expect it. Beware — He will fill them with the spirits of old poots and leave them in places that will scare you silly. I know, because it has happened to me. (Heh. Inside joke… thanks for indulging me, everyone.)

Have a safe and fun Halloween, my lil’ spooksters!

Weekend wanderings.

Here are my choices for cool sites of the week. Click on each image to go to that particular site. Enjoy!

Put down the bag of Cheetos. Go there and see what’s up. Browse through the archives and find some interesting (and helpful!) things to do.

Because somethings are just better unsquished!

**********

Someone you know wants to hear from you…

**********

Tired of paper trimmings, random glue blobs, and stray stickers adhered to the seat of your pants? Maybe you’re the type who needs to make their scrapbook online. Give it a go!

**********

An easier way to bookmark online articles and websites for later reference — and have them be accessible from any computer you use. It’s about time, dammit.

**********

This idea totally kicks ass! Not only is the artwork beautiful (in a minimalist/abstract way) but it’s also unique and personal. I would love to have a series of these hanging on my walls — one made for each person I cherish.

(However, my parents would never submit to DNA samples. Dubya and the Government might be behind this artwork, dontchaknow!)

**********

Hoops and YoYo are my favorite crazy little characters on the web. I love getting H&Y ecards; I use their graphics on my computer; I have one of their recordings as the alert on my email program.

I wish they’d make Hoops & YoYo underpants, because I’d wear ‘em — on my butt, and on my head when I dance around naked like I do sometimes.

I stumbled across this random slogan generator in one of my many moments of utter goofiness this week, and I couldn’t stop playing with it. (I’m weird that way, you know.)

I can’t recall the original products that all of these slogans belong to, but some of them take on a whole different tone depending on the word you submit. It disturbs me somewhat that any phrase with the word “pink” in it can sound completely filthy!

“We Do Infinitepink Right.”
“You Too Can Have An Infinitepink Like Mine.”
“You’re in Good Hands With Infinitepink.”
“Is It Live, Or Is It Infinitepink?”
“The Ultimate Infinitepink Machine.”
“All Infinitepink, All the Time.”
“Snap Into An Infinitepink!”
“Gives a Meal Infinitepink-appeal.”
“Leggo My Infinitepink!”
“You Know When You’ve Been Infinitepink’ed”
“Time to Make the Infinitepink.”
“The Non-sticky Sticky Infinitepink.”
“Pardon Me, Do You Have Any Grey Infinitepink?”
“If You’ve Got the Time, We’ve Got the Infinitepink.”
“Infinitepink Comes to Those Who Wait.”
“Infinitepink – M’m! M’m! Good!.”
“I Am Stuck On Infinitepink, ’cause Infinitepink’s Stuck On Me.”
“Break Me Off a Piece of That Infinitepink.”
“Absolut Infinitepink.”
“Have An Infinitepink and Smile.”
“Hungry? Why Wait? Grab An Infinitepink.”
“We Don’t Make Infinitepink. We Make Infinitepink Better.”
“The Infinitepink That Eats Like a Meal.”
“How Many Licks Does It Take to Get to the Center of An Infinitepink?”
“Let Your Fingers Do the Walking Through the Infinitepink.”
“Tonight, Let It Be Infinitepink.”
“Only Infinitepink Can Prevent Forest Fires.”
“Infinitepink. It’s What’s For Dinner.”
“Infinitepink-lickin’ Good.”
“I Can’t Believe I Ate the Whole Infinitepink.”
“There’s More Than One Way to Eat An Infinitepink.”
“Mama’s Got the Magic of Infinitepink.”
“Obey Your Infinitepink.”

…and finally:

“Melts in Your Infinitepink, Not in Your Hand.”

(Sorry, Mom. Apparently your middle daughter turned out to be a degenerate lust weasel.)

:innocent:

Friday’s Feast!

October 27, 2006 | 7 Comments

Appetizer:
Create a new candle scent.

I’d make a candle called “Tennessee Road Trip”. It would be a combination of scents: leather, green tea, cedar, ozone, and freshly mown hay… plus a few secret ingredients.

(I should be copyrighting this shouldn’t I?) :eyebrow:

Soup
Name one way you show affection to others.

Well, hugs are nice… but if I really love you (and know you love me and are open to it) you will always get some kind of kiss when we meet. I think it’s something my mama taught me: the people you adore get the lips, baby.

Salad:
What is your favorite writing instrument?

Oh, it’s sick, I know. But it irritates me to have to use any other kind of pen than Zebra Sarasa Gel Retractable pens, 0.7 mm. I prefer black, but I do have entire sets of the various colors. I like to sign personal correspondence in fuchsia.

Apparently others like them too, because mine are always being swiped! Grrr…

Main Course:
If you were given $25 to spend anywhere online, from which site would you buy?

Etsy! I know you all are probably tired of me saying that, but I love the stuff that is sold there. It’s all about self-representing artists making wonderful goodies. I encourage you all to do a little (or a lot) of Christmas shopping there… before I buy it all. Heh.

Dessert:
Are you dressing up for Halloween? If so, what are you going to be?

Yes. I’m dressing up as an overly-optimistic, insane Liberal Democrat who is going to have her fantasies of world domination shattered in the mid-term elections.

Give up? Nancy “The She-Beast” Pelosi!

She’s going to beat you into submission with that whip first, then suck all your brains out… Booo! Sca-a-a-a-ry!

Hehehe. Have a Happy Friday.

I think I figured it out.

Naomi Campbell arrested again for assault.

People, the bitch is just hungry. If someone would drag Miss Thang to Quizno’s once a week for a big ol’ submarine sammich — all of that slapping and scratching and cellphone throwing with stop in a flash.

I mean, really. If you weighed 103 lbs. and only ate speed for nutrition, wouldn’t you be a tad cranky too?

You know she’s an alien, don’t you?

Poor little Suri Cruise. She’s cursed with weird ass parents and people are already teasing the kid.

So what are you waiting for? Let’s join in the fun! Click the pic to play.

You know, I have to admit, when I look at Suri’s face she *does* resemble Tom Cruise quite a bit. I guess that means Tom has a straight brother or cousin who looks exactly like him. There is no other way it could happen, people.
