Sweeties and new little pretties.

Before I show you my latest creations, I want to take a moment to send out a heart-felt thank you to all of the supportive people in my life who have purchased pieces of my artisan jewelry. I really enjoy handcrafting one-of-a-kind items like this and it delights me to know that people I love and admire are wearing them or giving them as gifts.
I guess it’s my little introverted way of connecting personally with the rest of the human race.
So, Terry… Leslie… Carol… John… THANK YOU! To everyone who offers supportive oooohs and ahhhs about my designs… THANK YOU, too!
It means more to me than I can say.
You’re all my sweeties.
My latest worktable experiments include making swingy little earrings like this:

I’ve titled these “Silver Moon Drops” and they are made of multi-colored freshwater pearls, .925 sterling silver flattened oval hoops, and .925 sterling silver wire. Priced at $12.
I’ll be posting these (and more items) in my Etsy shop later today. Remember: FREE shipping on all “just earrings” purchases!
That’s all for now, kittens…

Just when I’m starting to get caught up on things …

… I gleefully fall ass-backwards into a sweet heap of creative opportunity and commit to happily rolling around in it awhile.
(I would explain more, but I promised to keep it a secret until completion.)
How’s that for a cliff hanger? Bwahaha!
In other time-spending events, The ‘Rents called to say that they are coming for a visit next week. It’s always been a little nerve wracking for me to have house guests for extended stays, but they’ve mellowed out so much that it’s not that bad anymore.
Either that or I’ve mellowed out a lot, who knows?
(Ahhh, the miracles of modern medicine.)
I told my mom that we’ll probably be stripping sections of the floors during their visit and she said that was ok.
Darn right it’s ok, Mom! It’s finally getting done and ain’t nobody gonna get in the way!
Hmmm. Would it be wrong to tell them to bring their work clothes and knee pads so they can help?
In Out-Law news, Daddy Al and Hot Donna are flying to Texas tomorrow afternoon to visit her family for a few days.
That ought to be fun for everyone else on the plane.
All of the other passengers can wait an hour while the co-dependent lovebirds try to decide whether they should split a can of Pepsi or just have ice water. Hahaha.
There have been murmurs about Daddy Al coming to visit here sometime this year, but whether the plans actually materialize is another issue. He has always done a lot of scheduling and canceling at the last minute — and now that Hot Donna is in the picture, she pretty much calls the shots anyway.
This is someone who he didn’t even know a couple years ago, and now she controls him.
That, my friends, is what you call “whipped.”
Now I need some comforting words, my friends.
Have you ever completely forgotten something so basic and simple that you begin to wonder if you’re losing your mental capacities?
My experience today totally freaked me out.
We have a voice message service through the phone company and to access your messages you have to enter a seven digit code, right?
Now, I normally dial that number several times a week, and for the life of me, I could not remember it when I went to do it today! I tried about a dozen different combinations before I finally gave up.
(I apologize to the attorney whose answering machine I kept dialing and hanging up on. Gah. He probably thinks some drugged out stumble bum lives at this number and needs to get bailed out of the pokey.)
To make matters worse, I thought I’d just dial Jer’s office and ask him what the right number is, and I mis-dialed that number too.
At that point, I busted out laughing and said fuck it. Those messages waited until Agent J, King of the Clear Minded came home and told me the number.
Then he asked me five minutes later to repeat it and I messed it up. Faaaaaaack.
So help me out. What’s the best method you know for remembering something important? Some things I have no difficulty recalling, but I think it must be getting too crowded in my head because I
Uh. Wait. Where was I going with this?
:dork:
Today’s entry.

I was talking to a friend the other day about this poem. It really had an impact on me when I first read it in 1990 when I found it in the book “The Courage to Heal“.
Its message is simple, but sometimes it’s extremely hard to remember when you are in the middle of bad situations or you’re dealing with people who are toxic.
Anyway, here it is. It bears repeating and I hope it helps someone (anyone) today.

Autobiography in Five Short Chapters
by Portia Nelson
I. I walk down the street.
There’s a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I fall in.
I am lost…..I am helpless;
It isn’t my fault.
It takes forever to find a way out.
II. I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I pretend I don’t see it.
I fall in again.
I can’t believe I am in the same place;
But it isn’t my fault.
It still takes a long time to get out.
III. I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I see it is there.
I still fall in….it’s a habit.
My eyes are open.
I know where I am.
It is my fault.
I get out immediately.
IV. I walk down the same street.
There is a deep hole in the sidewalk.
I walk around it.
V. I walk down a different street.
…………………………………………………………………
Good, isn’t it?
Keep your eyes open and mind your path today, my friends. I am doing the same.
Love ya,
Let the stripping begin!

We ripped up the carpet in the dining room, entryway and living room quite some time ago and have put off refinishing the oak floors for years.
(Trust me, that was not my idea. Ahem.)
Well, last week Jer finally ordered some stuff to get the stripping underway and – HALLELUJAH! – it seems like it’s going to work just fine.
This is what we’re using:
Franmar Chemicals Soy Gel Paint and Urethane Remover
He did a small test area this weekend and it only took 10 minutes to strip off the 1920’s finish down to the bare wood. I am amazed… and really excited! Finally, finally the floors will be one continuous color and not a hodge-podge of faded shades of brown.
The best part is that there’s no sanding involved or fumes to deal, which is a major bonus with my allergies.
Now that we know it’s going to work, we have to do a little prepping. When the refinishing project gets into full swing I’ll start sharing progress pictures with you.
(Did I mention that I AM SO EXCITED!?) :yay:
More again soon, kids…

Fixed it? I hope so.

Oh, the afternoon I’ve had.
I think I fixed the site now. I ended up deactivating and deleting plugins, re-writing code, and hand-coding whole new template pages… just to get the site back to the same presentation that I had it in BEFORE the super-fucktastic Wordpress 2.2 upgrade-up-the-ass debacle.
I really don’t know what the hell is the matter with the Wordpress geeks, anyway. Many of their “improvements” to the new versions really AREN’T. They cause script conflicts and break people’s web pages — and unless you live and breathe The World of Geekiness, it’s a major league hassle.
From now on, unless there is a security breach in the WP coding that is so dire the safety of the free world is in danger, I AM NOT UPGRADING.
I’ve got better things to do with my time.
Like get drunk and watch a movie.
(Sounds good… seeya later.)
