Finally - I have a chance to sit and write. Of course, it would have been easier to write sooner if I hadn’t slept all day. 
So where have I been this week? What have I been doing?
If I told ya, I’d have to kill ya.
Let’s just say that it was very good indeed.
(It’s also good to be back, though. I missed every one of you! )
Let’s get the usual pleasantries out of the way, shall we?
It’s raining here right now. I think it’s because I’ve been dancing too much and the Rain God decided I was sending a request instead of just getting my groove on.
(Seriously, ask my best friend JL, he’ll tell you. I have the ability to make it rain! I think I’ve saved his cotton and bean crops a few times already just by doing a shimmy at the perfect moment.)
The Rain God never denies a perfect shimmy, dontcha know.
And other weatherly things: the nights are very cool now, with occasional frost warnings, and the leaves are starting to change. This is my favorite time of year; it’s as if all of the trees turn into great big flowers.
When the trees become huge flowers, I pretend I am a teeny-tiny person and I am in a giant’s garden.
Oh wait… I am. We all are. Hee.
The jewelry biz is really starting to pick up and I am thrilled about that. This week, I am taking some items to another local shop who has happily agreed to display and sell them. I am scrambling to get display systems perfected, but I think I’ve come up with an idea.
This may involve Jer’s assistance in his workshop, but since he kinda likes me, I am sure he’ll oblige. 
One of the things I attempted on my “time out” was to listen to more contemporary music. You know, from 2000 and forward.

I don’t know if I can do it, man. I think I am permanently stuck in the 1970s.
But I am starting to pinpoint why that is. For me, 70s classic rock seems more honest and straightforward. Most of the performers and musicians appeared as they actually did in every day life, warts and all – (Alice Cooper, KISS and Elton John excluded, of course.) They weren’t fronting and trying to act tough, threatening, or hypersexual. Sure, they wanted attention and success, but they weren’t trying to be American Idols. The vast majority of the music was enjoyed by all ages, ethnicities, both genders and all orientations. There weren’t divisions.
In short, the music was the “thing” not the image.
When did the intention of modern music become so dramatic and theatrical? Did it start with The Who’s “Tommy”, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” or “Jesus Christ Superstar”? Or was it even before those — with opera?
Arrrrgh. It was that demon MTV wasn’t it!?
Anyway, it’s going to take me a while longer to grasp contemporary music, I think. It’s much more difficult than “getting” visual art. By the time I finally understand it, there will be another musical era that I’ll need to contend with.
Dammit! I’m never going to be cool, am I? 
On the psychiatric front:
The medication I began taking a few months ago is still working and it’s past the time that most other brain meds poop out on me. In fact, I visited The Wisconsin Pillman recently and we agreed to that I can increase the dosage of this miracle med and decrease the regular anti-depressant even more than I already have.
Sweet baby Jesus, I think we’re really on to something here.
Part of the conversation with The Pillman made us both laugh. He asked what I gauged my level of happiness to be these days. I started snickering and said: “Compared to what? For me, this feels incredible. I haven’t had this degree of clarity and happiness since I was a very little girl! To other people, this might feel miserable and unbearable.”
He got this enlightened look on his face and said: “I never thought of it that way…”. That’s when we agreed to kick up the dosage and see how far we can push this thing. How good can good get?
Heh. It seems that sanity is truly a relative thing.
(So is insanity. Hahaha.)
That’s all for now, kids. And really, isn’t that enough? I am such a chatterbox.

It’s wonderful to be alive, kids. Thanks for waiting for me as I re-fueled my jets! I’ll be posting more later today, after I sleep for a bit. If I wrote now in this state of drowsiness, heaven only knows what top secret national security information I might reveal. Or maybe even my highly coveted recipe for Aunt Louise’s Blue Ribbon Dill Pickles.
That would not be good.

It’s that time of year again…

“Oh, thank you!” said the daughter.
The 2nd daughter comes up and asks, “So, why’d you choose my name, Dad?”
The dad replies, “Because Lily, a lily pad fell on your head when you were a baby.”
“Oh, ok then,” said the daughter.
The 3rd daughter comes up and asks,” “RLAHMEULRAAMEUREURRELAGGLAAH!?”
The dad replies, “Oh, shut up, Cinderblock!”

Thursday’s Pretties.

For this week’s Show and Tell session, I present “The Deep River Necklace and Earring Set”.
The featured gemstones are triangular, faceted pieces of Ocean Jasper in a multitude of earthy colors and abstract patterns. (I love this stuff, and when I found some in such an unusual shape, I about freaked out! You know how I am…)
The accent stones are smooth black onyx rondelles and all of the metal beads, findings and the clasp are .925 sterling silver.
