First Takes.

I am pleased to introduce you to my dear friend, Mr. Marcus Stephen Davison – singer, songwriter, raconteur, and virtual realist. As I mentioned in my previous entry, his new CD of original music was just released this week on CDBaby.com and I strongly encourage you to check it out. If you enjoy passionate acoustic guitar playing, American folk melodies, and songs about the mysteries of love, God, and moments of soul-solitude then you will love Marcus’ work. (To go directly to his page on that site, simply click on the image above. It will take you there.)
I first heard his music a little over a year ago and I have been an avid fan since then. The song that hooked me is “Off My Mind” because of it’s haunting melody and the story being told. I still predict that it will be Marcus’ first recording to go “gold”, and dangit, I’m expecting a steak dinner when it does! Other favorites include “Girl, It’s You”, “Fly Away”, “I Believe”, and “Backwater Blues” – but I am being straight up when I tell you that the whole compilation of songs is excellent from beginning to end.
One more thing about it, then I’ll hush up and let you go have a listen…
His guitar playing. It is extraordinary and I guarantee that you have never heard anything like it. It’s a rare form known as “back-picking” which produces such a beautiful harmonic quality that you will swear Marcus is playing a 12 string instead of a six. Totally mesmerizing and the man is a master at it.
Now off you go to CDBaby.com – and be sure to tell your friends about this new release, too. Buy yourself a copy if you like it and grab one as a gift for someone you love as well. You’ll be happy you did!
(Uhh… and Marcus? I’d like my steak medium rare, please.)
Over and out for now,
Word.

Long overdue hugs and kisses to all who are still reading and waiting for me.
