Monday Music Mambo, #123

October 31, 2006

This came in on time from the home office in Mamboville… however, I got busy packing for yet another roadtrip, so my answers are a day late! Let’s hit it, kids…

Hello! It’s time to mambo again. This week, I’m doing a mix of themes - The Internet’s Birthday from Sunday and Halloween.

1. What are your favorite music-related internet websites?

Songfacts

Soul Sides

Lyrics.com

Live365

Pandora

Album Cover Art Gallery

Pop Culture/Music Madness

2. Who are some of your favorite artists or bands you discovered on the internet?

My favorites discoveries so far: MoZella, The Gossip, Sparklehorse… and basically any decent artist who emerged later than 2000. Prior to that time I didn’t venture much outside of my little realm of classic rock oldies. The web has introduced me to a lot of new music.

Thank you so much for inventing the internet, Al Gore!
3. Name a few musicians who you think are scary, for any reason.

Hmmm. Well, I really like Neil Young… but if I met up with him in a dark alley his scowly face would scare me half to death. Same goes for Lyle Lovett. And Madonna. And Courtney Love. Kelly Osborne. Keith Richards (GOOD LORD!)… George Clinton, James Brown, Glen Campbell… wow… there’s lotsa scary looking people in the music industry. Hee.

And last but not least, the scariest of them all — Jacko! And we see him here choosing a nose to complete his Halloween costume.

4. Trick or treat! What song(s) or album(s) are you going to hand out to your bdinsanity trick or treaters this year?

Ohhhhh… You’re all so cute! Just reach in & take what you like!

10,000 Maniacs - Candy Everyone Wants

Tommy Bolin - Shake the Devil

Chris Isaak ~ Wicked Game

Classics IV - Spooky

Cranberries - Zombie

Creedence Clearwater Revival - I Put a Spell On You

Diana Krall ~ Autumn Leaves

Doors - Ghost Song

Lovin’ Spoonful - Do You Believe in Magic

Edgar Winter - Frankenstein

Electric Light Orchestra - Evil Woman

Neil Young ~ Harvest Moon

Smashing Pumpkins - 1979

Warren Zevon - Werewolves of London

*********

That’s it for this week’s spooky Halloween MambooOOOOOooo! I hope you enjoyed it — snag what looks good to you; they will be here until next time.

By the way, I hear there is an Evil Panty Bandit roaming the countryside, lookin’ to snatch up your undies and boxer shorts when you least expect it. Beware — He will fill them with the spirits of old poots and leave them in places that will scare you silly. I know, because it has happened to me. (Heh. Inside joke… thanks for indulging me, everyone.)

Have a safe and fun Halloween, my lil’ spooksters!
